Welcome! Methodist Homes Corporation of Alabama and Northwest Florida (related to both the North Alabama and Alabama-West Florida Conferences of the United Methodist Church) opened our first home in 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama. Since that time we have provided new homes and services across Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

This commitment has been one reason for our continued growth. In 1957, St. Martin's began as a retirement residence for 80 residents. Today, we're a comprehensive retirement community, with a skilled nursing center, an assisted living facility, a secure Alzheimer's community Evergreen at St. Martin's, and a four story retirement apartment building.

Located on 120 beautiful wooded acres in the foothills of the Appalachians, Kirkwood by the River is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community near Birmingham, Alabama. Incorporated as Presbyterian Homes of Birmingham, Inc. and sponsored by Independent Presbyterian Church, it is open to all people regardless of church affiliation. An applicant or spouse must be at least sixty-two to move into Kirkwood.

The rehabilitation facility, built in 1995, features modern state-of-the-art decor, featuring 5 dining areas, 8 visiting areas, and 4 secure courtyards. The patients here are treated as honored guests by catering to their needs. The house physician and registered nurses are on campus around the clock.
