Technology for aging in place Can't Post Private Reply

I searched this site for information about technologies that could help seniors or their caregivers. Didn't see too much -- want folks to know that I have started a blog on this. It is:

www.ageinplacetech.com

My goal -- research and discuss the market for technology in categories like communication, home monitoring/safety, health care, and convenience/smart homes.

I attended the AARP convention in DC and I will be attending both the Connected Health event in Boston and the Silvers Summit in Las Vegas -- to try to separate the useful from the gizmo/gadget useless.

The expansion of broadband services will make many "technologies" we use daily, useful for the aging in place market. Facebook is a great example. Marketed to "younger" audience, it offers a super way to stay in contact with family, others, caregivers. For some reason, unclear to me, it is somewhat easier to use than my space. Possibly, a more secure "health" version could be developed for use in the medical, treatment and care giving arenas. Linking professionals and health care providers to people. We also like this approach better than some of the remote monitoring devices, that seem to be unnecessarily invasive.
