After spending time looking for places that provide information on care homes in a specific area I realised just how many different sites offer this service.
Has anybody had any experiences with any of them that might help?

I have not any site yet but I'll try to find it and suggest you. Meanwhile you can find assisted living from yellow pages and also search in Google.

Care homes has different management and it is for you to find how do they manage care homes. look for reviews.

Every website, brochure, and ad will claim that their place is the best, but for rankings based on FACTS: state and federal inspections, check out medicare.gov compare nursing homes, US News Best Nursing Homes, and BEST and Worst Nursing Homes IN YOUR STATE. Then visit websites of the top-ranked places in your area and find out more about their Assisted Living, Independent Living, Dementia Care, Rehab Therapy, etc.
We found a 5 STAR facility here on the coast of North Carolina, that matched our priorities. After a TOUR, we set up a SHORT TERM ONE WEEK VISIT, then made the decision for long term care.

yeah plenty of sites are there claiming that they provide the best service..so what you should do first is to go for non profit organizations who can tell you exactly where to go according to your budget plan.

Speaking of home care, food preparation and awareness is really essential. I heard a report stating an organic foods fraud.  Two McDonald's restaurants in the Detroit area were recently sued for halal scam. The restaurants asserted chicken products sold there were halal or certified to fit Muslim dietary needs and it is alleged they were fibbing over it. Halal fraud is just one of the many food certification scam schemes, where food products are declared to fit certain specifications when they actually do not.
