Do you work with patients with kidney health disease or complications? If so, then you know that renal disease and dialysis can be a complicating factor in care of the elderly, effecting longevity, overall health and quality of life. With increasing numbers of patients suffering from kidney disease and kidney related health complications, there is a need to inform healthcare workers in BC about the concerns and dangers. BCIT's Specialty Nursing Nephrology program is mounting a one day workshop - An Introduction to Managing Kidney Health - on September 17, 2010. Topics covered will include kidney physiology, disease, treatment and replacement options, complications and co-morbidities and renal diets. This workshop is aimed at non-renal registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, care aids and allied health professionals working in acute, community and residential care facilities.
