Survey says Betty White is top senior role model

Do you have a favorite senior role model? Is there someone who, for you, represents the best of what you think a retirement living senior is supposed to be?

As recently reported by Reuters news wire, legendary actress Betty White, who turned 90 on January 17, was voted by respondents of the Hartford Financial Services Group survey as the role model they most respect.

The number one reason respondents selected Betty White was “Because she knows how to laugh,” according to the news report. White is famous for acting in comedy films and television, and currently stars in a show called ‘Hot in Cleveland.’

After White, the other popular role models as selected by respondents included Jimmy Carter, Martha Stewart, actress Helen Mirren, Steven Tyler of the rock band Aerosmith, as well as businessman Jack Welch, and boxer and entrepreneur George Forman.

The reasons given by respondents varied. Jimmy Carter was favored by many because he is seen as a great humanitarian, Martha Stewart is seen as a strong and self-assured person, Helen Mirren is admired because she is so healthy, Steven Tyler is viewed as a free-spirited rebel, Jack Welch because he is so self-motivated, and George Foreman was selected by respondents because they admire his entrepreneurial abilities.
