Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. A nursing home is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but itís anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms.
