Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community. Each state licensing agency has its own definition of the term it uses to describe assisted living. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but itís anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. Independent Living Communities enable residents to live as independently as possible, while providing certain services and social activities. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you donít need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well. Housing arrangements for the future can be a stressful, anxiety-provoking topic for you and your family. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community.
