A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. Housing arrangements for the future can be a stressful, anxiety-provoking topic for you and your family. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time.
