Oak Creek Village
Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents. Assisted living emerged in the 1990s as an eldercare alternative on the continuum of care for seniors for whom Independent living is no longer appropriate but who do not need the 24-hour medical care provided by a nursing home. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. Retirement homes are privately owned rental accommodations for seniors who are able to manage and pay for their own care. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you don’t need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital.
