Assisted living is a philosophy of care and services promoting independence and dignity. There is a wide range of home care services that can help you maintain your independence within the comfort of your own home, from in home help to day care. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. You have a close network of nearby family, friends, and neighbors. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you donít need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. You have a close network of nearby family, friends, and neighbors. A nursing home is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. The housing is friendlier to older adults, more compact, with easier navigation and assistance in outside maintenance. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. You have a close network of nearby family, friends, and neighbors. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community. Housing arrangements for the future can be a stressful, anxiety-provoking topic for you and your family.
