A place in a retirement home can be paid for on a rental basis, like an apartment, or can be bought in perpetuity on the same basis as a condominium. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level.
