A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but itís anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. The housing is friendlier to older adults, more compact, with easier navigation and assistance in outside maintenance. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. Nursing Home residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities.
