Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. Staff is available twenty-four hours a day. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well.
