Retirement Homes & Senior Housing
Nursing Home residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Retirement homes are privately owned rental accommodations for seniors who are able to manage and pay for their own care. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living. The housing is friendlier to older adults, more compact, with easier navigation and assistance in outside maintenance. Each state licensing agency has its own definition of the term it uses to describe assisted living. Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. Senior Housing - find independent and assisted living facilities, nursing homes, retirement communities, and other elderly care. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with coordination of services by outside health careproviders. Senior Living - info and advice for older adults. The housing is friendlier to older adults, more compact, with easier navigation and assistance in outside maintenance. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents.
