Independent Living Communities enable residents to live as independently as possible, while providing certain services and social activities. A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given.
