Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. Independent Living Communities enable residents to live as independently as possible, while providing certain services and social activities. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you don’t need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level.
