Retirement Homes & Senior Housing
Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. A nursing home is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you don’t need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. A nursing home, convalescent home, Skilled Nursing Unit, care home or rest home provides a specific type of care for its residents. Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. Retirement homes are privately owned rental accommodations for seniors who are able to manage and pay for their own care. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community. A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. A nursing home is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. A place in a retirement home can be paid for on a rental basis, like an apartment, or can be bought in perpetuity on the same basis as a condominium. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. There is a wide range of home care services that can help you maintain your independence within the comfort of your own home, from in home help to day care. Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. Assisted living comes by many names, such as residential care, board and care, or group homes.
