Retirement Homes & Senior Housing

Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. A nursing home is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you donít need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Assisted living comes by many names, such as residential care, board and care, or group homes. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but itís anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms.
