A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital. Some facilities provide minor help with medications as well. Nursing Home residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities. A nursing home, convalescent home, Skilled Nursing Unit, care home or rest home provides a specific type of care for its residents. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time.
