College Manor Inc.
College Manor's impressive, castle-like building has been a landmark in historic Lutherville, Maryland for decades. Originally a Lutheran Seminary, the site later became home to the Maryland College for Women. When the College closed in the early 1950's, its president, Dr. William Moore III, predicted the need America's aging population would have for quality care and accommodations. Following his intuition, Dr. Moore transformed the elegant building and 11-acre campus into College Manor. The high-ceilinged dining room, once filled with college women, now serves appealing meals designed for the individual dietary requirements of residents. The main lounge, still graced with its enormous crystal chandelier and marble staircase, is an inviting spot for family gatherings, friendly chats, or quiet reading. Since Dr. Moore opened our doors more than 50 years ago, three generations of our family have operated College Manor. So for us, College Manor isn't a job, it's a tradition. Our own family memories were made here, and every day we help residents create new memories of their own.
Life at College Manor is filled with ways to try new things, meet friends, pursue hobbies, and get out and about. For residents who wish to participate, our regular schedule of activities offers a wealth of fun and learning, both on and off site. Popular events here at College Manor include current events discussions, sewing groups, musical performances, bingo games, exercise classes, church services, art classes, ice cream socials, and trivia contests — just to name a few. And don't forget that beautiful piano in our lobby!
Explore our 11 park-like acres and you'll see why our campus is a nature-lover's paradise. A wildlife habitat, comfortable benches, and convenient ramped walkways make soaking up the scenery easy. It's the perfect place to take a stroll with friends, enjoy some early morning bird watching, get a little fresh-air exercise, relax in the shade with a good book, or just stop and smell the roses. We even offer flower and vegetable garden space to residents who want to keep their green thumbs active. So it's not unusual to see our residents arranging fresh cut flowers in their rooms or sharing home grown tomatoes with visitors.
