Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. A nursing home may be a good choice if you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization, but it’s anticipated you will be able to return to home or another facility after a period of time. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. Assisted living emerged in the 1990s as an eldercare alternative on the continuum of care for seniors for whom Independent living is no longer appropriate but who do not need the 24-hour medical care provided by a nursing home. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living. A place in a retirement home can be paid for on a rental basis, like an apartment, or can be bought in perpetuity on the same basis as a condominium. Nursing Home residents in a skilled nursing facility may also receive physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness.
