A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you don’t need the round-the-clock medical care and supervision of a nursing home. Independent living is a general name for any housing arrangement designed exclusively for seniors. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being.
