A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. Nursing Home residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities. Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. An assisted living facility may be a good choice if you need more personal care services than are feasible at home or in an independent living retirement community. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. Retirement homes are also called retirement residences. A place in a retirement home can be paid for on a rental basis, like an apartment, or can be bought in perpetuity on the same basis as a condominium.
