The usual retirement home pattern is that each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. A retirement home differs from a nursing home primarily in the level of medical care given. Assisted living is a philosophy of care and services promoting independence and dignity. You have a close network of nearby family, friends, and neighbors. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Assisted living residences or assisted living facilities provide supervision or assistance with coordination of services by outside health careproviders. A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital. Generally, retirement homes are designed for seniors who need minimal to moderate support with their daily living activities. Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include Residential Care Home, Assisted Care Living Facilities, and Personal Care Homes. Each state licensing agency has its own definition of the term it uses to describe assisted living. Assisted Living communities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. You do not need to provide medical evidence that you need a minimum level of care. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. A retirement home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. Assistance may include the administration or supervision of medication, or personal care services provided by a trained staff person. Independent Living Communities enable residents to live as independently as possible, while providing certain services and social activities. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term assisted living. Nursing Home residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities. Retirement villages and retirement communities, unlike retirement homes, offer separate and autonomous homes for residents.
